3 out of 5 stars Be sure to read the directions   July 18, 2010

I'm not 100% sure as to how well this product actually works, because I failed to read the directions carefully enough. I opened the bag of crystals and dumped them into the canister.. oops! The crystals ended up turning into an ice-like substance that clogged the hole where the absorbed water should travel into the collection receptacle. I'm sure this product works well if you're not an idiot like I am. I'm going to buy another kit and try again.

We use DampRid in our master bathroom, which doesn't have an exhaust fan. The room feels less damp after showering, and the steam dries off the mirrors much faster than it did before. This totally works as described and makes a definite difference.

3 out of 5 stars Great design, but...   April 9, 2010

Well, I've had this open in the bedroom now for about two weeks. It stays in one place, so not moved all over.
Maybe I am not reading the directions correctly... it says to dispose of the outer pouch, and put inner pouch into
the top of the container. Do you open the inner pouch up and pour the beads in, or leave them in the pouch?
I know - makes me sound stupid, but seriously not sure. The directions included do not sound like that packet
should be opened and the beads dumped loose into the top portion. However, if it continues to have no water
collection, that is exactly what I will try. That will somewhat defeat the safety features on this one though.

What I can say, is that in two weeks time, we have no water at all in the container. None.
The closet DampRip is gathering up the liquid nicely, but this one is doing nothing.

The design is really nice - not ugly, little bigger than expected, but overall good.

Just wish the bead pouch deal was a little more specific. I hate to open the inner pouch if it
is supposed to stay intact. We have critters, which is why I wanted this design.
Oh well -

UPDATE 06/03/10: I did finally make a cut in the bag, but did not dump the pellets. Once I did this, I did finally start to see some water gathering in the bottom. After two full months of use in a very humid room, we only got about an inch of water in the tank. It was easy to dump - that is a big plus. Our hanging DampRid for the closet continues to outperform this model. The closet smells fresher (no musty smell) and no new mold on the back wall. The bag is nearly full, so we'll be getting more of those.
This table-top model looks very nice, but just does not perform very well, especially for the amount of DampRid it contains.

Have been using this about a year and it does what they say. It's easy to use. Just put the refill pack in the container. When the bottom is full of water and refill pack is empty and brown, dispose of the water and toss out refill pack and put in a new pack. Easy and it does the job.

So far it is working good. But I am still testing them out to see if they will help to reduce the humidity for this coming summer. Will update later. The price sure seems to be good though. The humidity in the summer is so sickening and I want to find out if these will at least help reduce it.
